CHILEAN PREMIUM WINES
MAULE VALLEY

LA HIGUERA VINEYARD

LOCATION /
Our vineyards -located next to our winery- are found in the district of San Clemente, the highest area of Maule Valley, in a zone called Valle del Claro.

CLIMATE /
This valley is characterized for having many hours of sunshine, appropriate soils and clearly defined seasons. The climate is sub-humid Mediterranean with an annual rainfall of 700 mm. The alternation of warm days and cool nights, with significant thermal fluctuations, permit the optimum growth and ripening of our fine varieties.

SOIL /
The area has a slightly undulating topography with soils of sedimentary alluvial, fluvio-glacial and colluvial origin, and medium to low fertility.

VARIETIES PLANTED /
Merlot, Carmenere, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINES /
Maule Valley permits red wine varieties with soft tannins, like Merlot and Carmenere, to ripen providing extraordinary freshness. Carmenere -a unique variety in the world- adapts splendidly to the semi-cold climate, with intense fruity aromas, soft sweet tannins and excellent freshness in the mouth. Also, like Casablanca, it is one of the best valleys of Chile to produce Sauvignon Blanc.
